Tour de France 2014 climbs, upland landscapes, ancient roads threading along high moorland edges, stone-built hamlets, weavers’ cottages, challenging climbs and descents: this new Sportive is a wonderful introduction to the UK’s most fashionable cycling region, the South Pennines.
When: The event takes place in April 2015. Start times will be allocated between 8am and 10am.
Where: The event HQ is at Marsden Golf Club, an attractive moorland course, just outside the centre of the small town of Marsden. Here there is plenty of parking. We have also negotiated access to the male and female changing rooms and both the sign on and post race meal will be hosted in the golf club’s warm and welcoming clubhouse.

The Routes: three options, 40km, 60km and 100km, all ending with a climb of the king of Yorkshire’s many climbs, Holme Moss – The Routes
What’s Special? The route. It gives you two or the Tour de France’s feature 2014 climbs, but it’s the wonderful landscapes and amazing roads in-between that will really blow you away. Designed by local riders, the route is a challenge and a delight in turns.
Bike Set-up: that’s always the $million question. With several lengthy climbs right to the finish and some very steep sections, we recommend a compact chainset or triple. Our main route planner rode a ‘Cross bike set-up with a 38 x 34 bottom gear during recce rides. You have been warned!
